Max Ernst Museum

For the first time, the work of the great Dadaist and Surrealist Max Ernst (1891-1976) can be seen under a single roof. The wealth of works shown has not been seen before: you will find over 60 sculptures from the artist?s private collection and a large part of his graphic oeuvre. Highlight of the museum are the 36 so-called D-Paintings ? birthday presents from Ernst to his wife, Dorothea Tanning, showing his love for her and given every year.

Augustusburg Castle

The first documentary reference to Brühl was recorded in the year 1180. This was when Archbishop Philipp von Heinsberg of Cologne founded a manor house to administer the local estates which quickly became a significant local seat. In 1285 Brühl received its city charter from Archbishop Siegfried von Westerburg and self-administering courts were established. In 1469 Brühl became the capital of the county and was also chosen as the residence of the Cologne Archbishops. For almost 150 years the Cologne Archbishops territory was ruled from Brühl.

Tickets for almost all events in town are available from the "brühl-info" tourist information office. The city of Brühl is a Kölnticketpartner.
