Tourism

Brühl - that is much more than the baroque splendour of the two UNESCO World Heritage palaces Augustusburg and Falkenlust. It's more than the surreal enchantment conveyed by the works of Max Ernst presented in his own museum. Did you know that in the Middle Ages Brühl's pottery production was famous throughout Europe up as far as Scandinavia?

Have you ever dropped in on Brühl's Railway Museum with its 30 original trains and trams to warm the heart of every railway enthusiast?

Have you ever heard about a "beard tax" ? You can find the answers to this and many other such questions in Brühl's larger and smaller museums, archives and collections.

Emerse yourself in the town's history. You will be surprised how topical the past can be.

Max Ernst Museum

For the first time, the work of the great Dadaist and Surrealist Max Ernst (1891-1976) can be seen under a single roof. The wealth of works shown has not been seen before: you will find over 60 sculptures from the artist's private collection and a large part of his graphic oeuvre. Highlight of the museum are the 36 so-called D-Paintings - birthday presents from Ernst to his wife, Dorothea Tanning, showing his love for her and given every year.

Culture - Discover Brühl

Enthusiastic about technological progress, Frederick William IV, King of Prussia, had a railway station built close to his residence Augustusburg in 1844, thus creating the basis for the rapid industrial and cultural evolution of Brühl, the town of gardens and castles.
